Payments NZ is a governance organisation at the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand’s payments system. We work with the industry to deliver world class payments outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.

In carrying out our functions, we may collect, store, use and disclose personal information.  This may relate to our staff, professional advisers, representatives of our participants and members, and other people who engage with Payments NZ. 

The personal information we collect includes (but is not limited to):

  • Telephone numbers
  • Job title and employer
  • Curricula vitae and any information in relation to criminal convictions or regulatory action
  • Employment experience and expertise
  • Referee and reference details
  • Bank account information

  • Process applications for participation and membership (including to join the API Centre)
  • Consider applications for employment
  • Engage consultants
  • Develop and deliver services and benefits to our participants, members, API Standards Users and Community Contributors
  • Facilitate industry forums and working groups
  • Maintain registers and records consistent with the governance of the payment system
  • Send you publications if you have consented
  • Provide networking opportunities and ecosystem engagement.

Payments NZ collects this information through the following channels:

  • Direct contact with participants, members, API Standards Users and Community Contributors
  • From individuals who approach the Company (e.g. for employment, access to information)
  • Participant/member application forms, API Standards User application forms or Community Contributors application forms
  • Our websites
  • The provision of services and benefits to participants, members, API Standards Users and Community Contributors
  • Networking events.

In accordance with the Privacy Act 2020, any personal information which is disclosed to us is held securely and we only use and disclose it for the purpose for which it was provided or when legally required. 

Website use

Our websites only collect personal information provided:

  • by users through the contacts and subscriptions pages; and
  • through the use of cookies (described in more detail below).

The personal information you provide will only be used in connection with your use of our websites, to communicate with you in relation to your use of our websites or when required by statutory authority.

Cookies

We use cookies to collect data about each visit to our websites. Data security

Transmission of data over the internet cannot be guaranteed as totally secure.  While we take all reasonable steps to protect personal information obtained through our website, information provided to Payments NZ over the internet is at the risk of the organisation providing it.

Destruction

Personal information is only held by Payments NZ for as long as the information is needed.  When the information is no longer required to be held, we will destroy this information securely.  

We retain personal information which is contained in board, committee or working group papers or minutes.

Access

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
