Māori data governance is a more respectful approach to data governance, and its application has benefits to all. The API Centre has been on a journey to explore and apply this approach in our mahi, which is a key aspiration in Tō Mātou Haerenga, our Payments NZ Te Ao Māori strategy.

Check out Ngā Tohu Ārahi – API Centre Data Handling Guidelines that showcase our commitment to respectful and ethical data handling.

You can find out more about Tō Mātou Haerenga on the Payments NZ website.

The Māori Data Governance Model

Ngā Tohu Ārahi is split into six key areas, which align with specific pou, or pillars, from the Māori Data Governance Model. These pou include data collection, access and sharing, data usage, data protection, data retention and disposal, and data quality and system integrity.

Find out more about our journey to explore and apply the Māori Data Governance Model in the videos below.
