These reports support transparency across our nation’s open banking ecosystem by providing consistent performance information reported by participating banks.

For more information on the data included within these reports, please refer to the Performance Standard v1.0. Currently, only banks that were live with the API Centre Standards when the Performance Standard became binding in November 2025 are required to report performance data.

Availability

Availability shows the percentage of time the API services were available. Higher percentages indicate that customers and Third Parties were generally able to access Open Banking services when needed.

The chart also shows periods of downtime:

  • Planned Downtime: Scheduled maintenance or service interruptions that were communicated in advance by the API Provider.
  • Unplanned Downtime: Unexpected service interruptions that affected the availability of the API services

Together, these measures help illustrate the reliability and continuity of Open Banking services over time.

Response Time

Response Time shows how quickly the APIs respond to requests throughout the selected period. Lower response times generally indicate a faster and more responsive customer experience.

The chart includes three measures:

  • Typical response time (Median): The response time experienced by a typical request.
  • 95% of responses: 95 out of every 100 requests were completed within this time.
  • 99% of responses: 99 out of every 100 requests were completed within this time.

The gap between these lines helps show how consistently the service performed. Smaller gaps indicate more consistent response times, while larger gaps may indicate occasional delays.

Important: Response time data is reported and aggregated hourly rather than at an individual request level. Results may vary between API Providers due to differences in system design, implementation approaches and traffic volumes. Comparisons should be considered indicative rather than direct like-for-like performance measures.

Throughput and Throttling

Throughput and Throttling shows the volume of API requests during the selected reporting period, along with any requests that were limited because usage thresholds were reached.

The chart includes two measures:

  • Requests processed (Throughput): The number of requests successfully handled during the selected period. Higher values indicate greater usage of open banking services.
  • Requests limited (Throttling): The number of requests that were not processed because they exceeded usage limits set by the API Provider.

Comparing these measures helps show both service usage and whether usage limits were reached.

Low levels of throttling indicate that available capacity was sufficient to meet demand.

Success Ratio

Success Ratio shows the percentage of API requests that were completed successfully during the selected reporting period.

A higher success rate indicates a more reliable service experience for customers and third parties.

The chart also shows unsuccessful requests:

  • 4xx responses occur when there is an issue with the request submitted by the Third Party, such as missing information or an expired authorisation.
  • 5xx responses occur when the API Provider experiences a technical issue that prevents the request from being processed.

This helps illustrate how reliably open banking services are operating over time.
